Girl Geek Scotland Relaunch

I am so delighted to announce the relaunch of Girl Geek Scotland!

We began with a fantastic event, bringing together past hosts, speakers, sponsors, and individuals passionate about inclusivity and diversity.

A key goal we have is to foster a collaborative community, where we can share ideas, learn from one another, and share our experiences. We plan to host more events like this throughout the year, so please reach out if your organization or group is interested in participating.

Our event revolved around the theme of “Inclusivity in Action.” With over 15 years of experience, we’ve heard a lot of talk about inclusivity, but not seen nearly enough change to demonstrate a commitment to those words. Our focus for the evening was on creating inclusive events, from the planning to selecting speakers, choosing venues, and hosting. Our thanks to the fabulous Trustpilot for hosting us and providing great food and drinks to keep our audience happy 🙂

Restarting our sessions was a little daunting. It was truly uplifting to walk out of the meeting room where I was making final tweaks to slides and see a full house, people chatting excitedly, and a buzzing atmosphere.

One of the highlights of our events is encouraging the audience to engage in breakout sessions to discuss our topic. Collaborating, listening and learning from one another, sharing unique experiences – these are essential for supporting diversity and inclusion.

The resulting ideas on how to organize great events, whether internal team meetings or larger gatherings, were inspiring to all our attendees. Our goal is to compile a valuable resource of best practices for hosting inclusive events that we can share with others and support all to make change.

In the upcoming weeks, we’ll be reaching out to those who attended for their support and creating opportunities for those who couldn’t make it. We’re committed to working together, being open, and sharing. Our mission is to drive positive change within the tech community, making it more inclusive and support everyone to turn our words about inclusivity into action.

To all who came along, and to our wonderful volunteers who helped make this happen, thanks so much! People left the event on a high, and you all made that happen!

Our main programme of events kicks off on September 21st – keep in touch to find out more and be the first to know when we release our tickets.

If you haven’t already, please sign up to our mailing list on Girl Geek Scotland and follow us on social media to keep up with the latest news.
